Running with humans vs running with a wolf(dog)

This started with a beautiful ~26mile tour of Anchorage. A couple hundred of us started in Northern Anchorage by Ellendorf Airforce Base. This include an awesome, scenic ~10 mile stretch along gravel roads through the base. On our left were some big green mountains, and the road traveled through remote woods. Last year a black bear and cub was spotted out here. While beautiful, my feet were ready to get off the gravel, where we headed onto narrow dirt single-track trail. The rest of the tour followed rural roads and bike paths surrounded by trees and with very few glimpses of buildings or cars. Bottom line, a real treat. Added bonus: not feeling destroyed and excited for more adventures on the day!

After my scenic run through Anchorage, Sarah and I headed up to Hatcher’s Pass to meet Kyle and Krish. We had lucked into a housesitting gig for the weekend. The house was awesome, Hatcher’s Pass is beautiful, but the dogs were what made the weekend. Atigun (“wolf-dog”), while skiddish at first, soon warmed up and never faded in energy to play. Ishi (“fat-dog”), was not shy for second, immediately fighting for all of your attention, which usually resulted in him sitting on you, blocking any chance of you paying Atigun any attention.

Net net, a great little weekend.
